Coaching Adults

Living with adult ADHD

If you feel like your life is in chronic chaos, and you’re tired of one setback after another and never getting where you want to go, then you recognize the challenge. At Lynda Hoffman Life Coaching, I offer ADHD coaching for adults in Montreal and internationally.

My clients have all experienced the following. Do you relate?

  • Underperformance at work despite evident talent and professional competence;
  • Hiding from pressures at the office – literally – to avoid the consequences of another missed deadline;
  • Failing partnerships and volatility in families;
  • Unable to manage simple tasks, but brilliant at big picture thinking;
  • Financial instability including bankruptcy, avoiding income tax deadlines, and inconsistent earning;
  • Pervasive feelings of any or all of the following: anxiety, inadequacy, overwhelm, guilt, helplessness, and chronic anger.

Remember, ADHD affects adults too—not just children.

Adults with ADHD struggle as much as they do because the world expects them to perform at a high executive functioning level. Executive Functions are brain-based skills that help us do what we know we are supposed to do. But ADHD drives a wedge between what you know and what you actually do. This can mean poor follow-through and basically being all over the place. The world may tolerate this in children, but not in adults. Adults with ADHD are often judged on a less forgiving scale.

Failures are simply information. Are you ready to turn toward them?
Understand them? Do something different?

How can ADHD coaching help?

Whether or not you have a diagnosis of ADHD, coaching can help you do better with the symptoms. Here are some things you can expect:

  • Increased awareness of where and how ADHD is  preventing you from reaching your goals
  • Structures to support you in doing what you want to get done
  • Individualized strategies to reach your goals
  • Accountability and ways to measure your progress
  • Increased confidence in your ability to change your life

Coaching is a widely accepted treatment for ADHD symptoms. Doctors and psychologists recommend it because they know that medication is only 50% of the solution. Coaching provides the other 50% by addressing the self-management difficulties that go with ADHD. When you coach with me, you will learn the skills for living the life you want - not just the life you have been surviving. You will feel more in control, confident and effective in your day-to-day life.

The Process

We will work with ALL parts of your being – including your ADHD symptoms. EVERYTHING THAT HOLDS YOU BACK from living up to your full potential will be part of your curriculum. Limiting beliefs, barriers and ADHD symptoms are all opportunities for you to learn the skills that go with living the life you want.

This is what the process looks like. We will:

  • Clarify the overall goal that would improve your life.
  • Explore what is getting in the way of your success, e.g., ADHD symptoms, limiting beliefs or unresolved emotional blocks.
  • Identify how ADHD affects your life.
  • Equip you with the skills for making different choices day-to-day.
  • Reflect, Revise, Revisit: refine what is already working and improve what is not.

Are you ready to take the first step toward a better life?

ADHD coaching works. It is not an overnight fix; it is a transformational tool for changing the rest of your life. The results are tangible and deep - if you want them to be.

Your life and your experience of ADHD are unique. You bring the content of what you want to change, and I create the space for it to evolve -- safe, non-judgmental, and evidence-based. Our topics may include:

Our Work:

Self-awareness, mindfulness and action plans are the cornerstones to this work. We will co-create tools and strategies just for you. I will support you during setbacks -- they are a normal part of making change. And I will ensure we pay attention to your eco-system so that all parts of your life are balanced and aligned with your goals. Through it all, I will ensure we stay focused on your goals.

  • Who wants you to do this coaching? You or someone else? This has to come from you.
  • Are you ready to reflect on YOU?
  • Can you tolerate the process of trial and error?
  • Are you prepared to stick it out for an agreed upon period of time?
  • Are you willing to see failures as opportunities?
  • Are you ready to do things differently?

Take that first step

You do not need a diagnosis of ADHD to get started. You just need to take that first step. If that still feels hard to do, remember that you just have to make the best choice in this moment.

I invite you to contact me. We will set up a one-on-one session – absolutely free of charge.
It will be my gift to you.

“…My favourite part about working with Lynda has to be the fact that I always feel “seen” when I’m with her. She held so much space for me, and let me reach my realizations at my own pace. She was always so compassionate, and helped me realize how to extend that compassion to myself. I felt like I was working with someone as a team. I’m truly unsure whether I could have gotten to where I am now without her help, but she has also helped me realize how much power I have in my own life. I can’t remember the last time I felt so empowered and motivated.”
